Thank you for taking the time to explore St. Monica Catholic Schools. I welcome you to learn more about our outstanding schools and our work in preparing young people for success.
We are an incredibly diverse but close-knit schools community, part of a vibrant Catholic parish. St. Monica Catholic Community is graced with the decades-long leadership of Monsignor Lloyd Torgerson, a pastor who places Catholic education at the top of his priorities.
The administration and faculty of both St. Monica Catholic Elementary School and St. Monica Catholic High School share a dedication to the educational and spiritual formation of the students in their care. Together we provide an environment in which students thrive in the development of their faith and their academic and co-curricular interests.
After perusing our website, please, come for a tour; meet some of our students and staff first hand. I am sure you will be impressed.
Dr. Kevin McCardle
Dear SMCES Community,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. On behalf of our new and returning staff, I want to say how blessed and humbled we are to enter this educational and faith journey with you, our students and parents. I’m paraphrasing Thomas Groome here, who said, “The heart of Catholic education is in the heart of the educator.” I can attest to the big and generous hearts of all the SMCES staff and from those hearts, their commitment to serve you and your children.
I am blessed to be your principal and I am inspired to work with you. Our shared task at SMCES is to build community and God’s kingdom; to strive for academic excellence and student success; to critically evaluate our school’s programs and practices, and to faithfully endeavor to achieve our goals as they are stated in our mission, our action plans, and our calling as Catholic educators. Your collaboration with me and my staff ensure a shared work and ministry to achieve all of the above.
Please contact me, or any of the SMCES staff if we can be of service to you. My favorite monk, Thomas Merton said, "Every moment and every event of every man's life on earth plants something in his soul.” It is my hope and prayer that our time together at SMCES will indeed plant something holy and deep in our souls.
Peace and Blessings,
Dr. Neil Quinly
