On Thursday November 14, the students of SMCES raised over $1,800 in a “$2 or more free dress day” as an effort to send their solidarity and support to the people of the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. We prayed in faith as a school community to ease the terrible suffering of our brothers and sisters affected by this powerful storm and we responded in action to what Cardinal Dolan challenged us to do in his letter to the U.S. bishops, "The assistance of the Catholic community of the United States is urgently needed. We will do all we can to stand by our brothers and sisters in the Philippines." Our donation will be sent directly to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines where we believe it will bring the greatest amount of assistance to the people. Join us in our continued prayers for the people affected by this tragedy.
