St. Monica Catholic Elementary School (SMCES), part of the vibrant St. Monica Catholic Community in Santa Monica, is accepting applications for an instructional aide for both 1st grades and 2nd grade. The instructional aide would also serve as a student playground supervisor. These two distinct jobs, 1st and 2nd grade are full-time positions that will fulfill your desire to nurture students’ growth and development.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist teachers in the preparation of instructional materials.
Work with students with varying learning needs.
Build collaboration with teachers and administrators through effective, timely, and pertinent communication. Advocate for students’ needs to teachers and administrators.
Contribute to the school and classroom community by accomplishing tasks as required.
Communicate with teachers and administrators.
Supervise students at recess and lunch (requires standing, walking, mobility)
The approximate allocation of responsibilities and duties is 30% student playground supervision and 70% in-class instructional aide.

Job Skills and Qualifications

A commitment to learn and implement the principles of dignity and equity throughout the school. Demonstrated proficiency in communication - verbal, listening, & written.
Ability to guide students in problem-solving.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work & engage in timely and appropriate information sharing with teachers and administrators.
Possess the characteristics of Catholic school professionalism.
Remain flexible, dependable, and dedicated to Catholic education.
Demonstrated ability and commitment to supporting the mission and vision of SMCES. Willingness to learn standard educational technology.
The minimum requirements are:

Experience working with primary-age children.

Education requirements:

The minimum requirements are an HS diploma.
Preferred requirements are an AA degree in Child Development or a related field.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with a BA degree in the discipline of education.
Negotiable, dependent upon experience.
