SMCES seeks an inspiring Spanish teacher who develops students to be competent language and culture
learners. The Spanish teacher will have the primary responsibility for planning, programming, and
teaching Spanish. A love of students and complete dedication to their success, combined with a passion
for the Spanish language and culture, effective professional skills, a positive, team-centered personality,
and a dedication to life-long learning, are all necessary for teaching success at SMCES.

The successful applicant will:
Demonstrate an understanding of student's social-emotional and academic development.
Exhibit knowledge of curriculum, instructional strategies, and classroom management necessary for
student success. Promote effective collaboration between staff, students, and families.
Express an understanding of learning and teaching in a Professional Learning Community.
Display the ability to make thoughtful, informed decisions; and the ability to integrate theory, practice,
faith, and reason in a Catholic environment.
The minimum requirements are:
Be bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish.
Have a strong knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary, and have training in second language

Must be passionate about teaching and celebrating Spanish language and Spanish speaking cultures and
must be committed to collaborating with colleagues.

An undergraduate degree (BA, BS) from an accredited university or college.

A California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a California Single Subject Teaching Credential, or
the equivalent from another state.
Full-time teaching experience in TK - 8 grades.

Ability to join a professional community of educators committed to providing challenging standards-based
curriculum in a Catholic environment of service.
Ability to use technology effectively in LMS and adaptive/assignable programs.

In addition to the above, the preferred requirements are:
An advanced degree (MA, MS) in Education.
