St. Monica Catholic Elementary School (SMCES), part of the vibrant St. Monica Catholic Community in
Santa Monica is accepting applications for a full-time instructional aide for 1st grade, and also a full-time
an instructional aide for 2nd grade. These are 2 distinct and different positions. Please indicate which grade you are interested in.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Lead small group instruction on Zoom.
Assist teachers in the preparation of instructional materials.
Work with students with varying learning needs.
Document student attendance, behavior, progress, activity, and proficiency.
Build collaboration with teachers and administrators through effective, timely, and pertinent communication.
Advocate for students’ needs for teachers and administrators.
Contribute to the school and classroom community by accomplishing tasks as required.
Communicate with parents/guardians as needed and/or requested by teachers and administrators.
The minimum requirements are:

Experience as an instructional aide, or teacher, working with primary age children.
Proficient with technology, Zoom, MacBook computers, and common academic programs (SeeSaw…)
Ability to work collaboratively with the classroom teacher in a hybrid classroom.

Education requirements:

The minimum requirements are an HS diploma.
Preferred requirements are an AA degree in Child Development or a related field.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with a BA degree in the discipline of education.

Job Skills and Qualifications

Familiarity with primary grade CCSS; Familiarity with primary grade instructional methods; and a
commitment to learn and implement the best practices in a hybrid classroom.
Proficiency in: Verbal Communication Skills; Computer Skills; Listening Skills; Organizational Skills; Ability to
Prioritize Work; Timely and appropriate Information sharing with teachers and administrators; Ability to
handle pressure and diffuse problems; Writing Skills
Possess the characteristics of Professionalism; Customer service (parents and students) focused; Flexibility;
Dependability; and Dedication to service.
